The least favorite gimmick was the definition of Yield, although that was also someone else's favorite gimmick. (It's actually pretty common for someone to list a gimmick as their favorite, and for someone else to list it as their least favorite.) * A couple protests noted ambiguities in the language of the GIs. I will update the template I use for my rallye documents to avoid those ambiguities in the future. * At the finish, I was asked what I thought the hardest gimmick was. It turns out that only one team got RI 16, and they were First Timers. One Master Expert team protested this gimmick, saying the "Bus Stop" signs on Mary were not at (within 100 feet of) the intersection. They were within 100 feet, but not by much. In hindsight, I should have used 200 feet in the definition to make them more obviously within the distance limit. * Other than RI 16, the most difficult gimmicks were RI 11 (quoted words can appear on different signs on a common support, 5 teams) and RI 40 (Opp requires a specified direction, 6 teams). * Everyone got RIs 5, 23, 30, 38, 39, 43, and 48, which were all relatively straight-forward sign gimmicks. Everyone also got CP 9 for entering the on-route CP the second time (but not CP 1 for entering the on-route CP the first time). Those interested in further analysis will find it at the end of this document. * A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this rallye possible: - Eric Anderson and Abby Grossman who prechecked; - Ed Slintak and Ray deBlieck who worked registration; - Eric Anderson and Abby Grossman who worked the checkpoint; - Abby Grossman who served as competition director; - All of you! It has been a long time since we have had this many cars enter a rallye. It was great to see you all. We hope to see you again at another TRC gimmick rallye!
