Please encourage your friends who might enjoy gimmick rallyes to give it a try! * In the questionnaire (TB 1), the clear winner for favorite gimmick was the Parentheses City Limit gimmick. Interestingly, the only other gimmick that received more than one vote was the parentheses gimmick, which was voted least favorite by two teams who missed the City of Parentheses gimmick. Finally, while I wasn't surprised that "the one we missed" was an unpopular gimmick, I was surprised to see a few votes for gimmicks that were not in the rallye. * The hardest gimmick (which only 5 cars got) was turning on Mesquite PL because PL was defined as a place where you are to turn. However, several other gimmicks were almost as difficult, even though my precheckers told me it was an easy rallye. * No one recorded A 7 (the fish CM). Everyone got CMs B 13 (at start), K 29 (Corral/Coral), and T 3 (Lei B on Sara). Also, everyone got RIs 17 A ("Azalea" on right), 19 B ("Blue Bells" bad), 20 A ("Seguoia" bad), 23 A ("Sequoia SA" bad), 26 B (B before A on RI page), and 33 A (Lei A on Jasmine). Finally, everyone got CP 2 (on-course CP), CP 3 (CP phrase), CP 4 (saying the CP phrase correctly), and CP 5 (saying you were working on RI 29). * Here is a breakdown of how many teams in each class recorded each of the remaining gimmicks: Beg Nov Sen Ex ME Total CP 1 1/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 Start CP .28 1/2 3/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 14/17 do RI .28 before RI 1 U 5 0/2 3/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 Lei 23 on Supp/SI page 1 C 0/2 1/5 4/4 2/3 2/3 9/17 parallel "Mathilda" sign at Pastoria H 5 2/2 5/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 first turn on Sunset (Story) 2 A 1/2 3/5 2/4 3/3 3/3 12/17 "Carson" sign on LEFT as passed 3 B 2/2 5/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 no "Pedra" sign at Piedra 4 C 0/2 4/5 2/4 3/3 2/3 11/17 forced turn, then both parts good A 0/2 0/5 2/4 0/3 1/3 3/17 partial: forced turn only 5 C 1/2 1/5 3/4 3/3 1/3 9/17 "Mary" signs on both left & right 6 B 0/2 1/5 0/4 3/3 2/3 6/17 Lei inside paper loop (Lometa) 7 A 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 "Cyprian Church" sign not valid 8 A 1/2 5/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 "Ave" not on sign 9 C 1/2 3/5 3/4 2/3 3/3 12/17 "Second Opp" in parentheses 10 B 1/2 5/5 2/4 3/3 2/3 13/17 "Traffic" became "Trafic" on sign 11 C 0/2 1/5 1/4 3/3 2/3 7/17 both first actions good, so C G 5 1/2 3/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 14/17 Lei on barcode tag (Madera) 12 B 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 "Marry" not on "Mary" sign D 3 1/2 3/5 2/4 0/3 2/3 8/17 partial: Lei on paper loop (Clarence) E 7 0/2 0/5 2/4 3/3 1/3 6/17 full: D 3 had no red reflective tape V 5 1/2 4/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 14/17 second turn on Sunset (Story) 13 A 1/2 3/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 sign not at (within 50' of) turn 14 B 2/2 3/5 3/4 1/3 3/3 12/17 do B early at "Washington Park" sign 15 B 1/2 4/5 2/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 "Lewis" sign on RIGHT as passed 16 A 2/2 4/5 2/4 3/3 3/3 14/17 third turn on Sunset (Story) 18 B 2/2 5/5 3/4 2/3 3/3 15/17 don't split words at "Palmetto" Y 3 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 turn on Bermuda (Story) 21/22 B/C 1/2 3/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 "Azalea" on right, RIs out of order A/B 1/2 0/5 0/4 0/3 0/3 1/17 partial: "Azalea" on right only x/y 0/2 2/5 1/4 0/3 0/3 3/17 unanticipated partial credit answers L 2 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 on-course CM CP 6 2/2 3/5 2/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 Parentheses City Limit 24 A 0/2 4/5 2/4 2/3 2/3 10/17 can't turn on "Erica" sign 25 B 1/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 turn on Palm (Story) 27 B 2/2 3/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 "Oak" not on sign 29 B 0/2 3/5 1/4 2/3 2/3 8/17 "29" at CP brings Supp 29 into effect N 19 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 turn on Silk (Oak) for Lei D O 37 1/2 2/5 3/4 1/3 2/3 9/17 Lei on back of CP slip (Daisy) 30 C 0/2 2/5 2/4 1/3 2/3 7/17 forced turn, then both parts good B 0/2 0/5 1/4 0/3 1/3 2/17 partial: forced turn only Z 2 1/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 on-course CM S 7 0/2 0/5 2/4 2/3 1/3 5/17 PL: a place where you are to turn 31 blank 1/2 1/5 1/4 3/3 3/3 9/17 RI 31 bad: 3rd part added at CP 32 C 1/2 3/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 13/17 A-C-B on score sheet X 43 2/2 4/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 both parts of RI 34 were bad 35 A 2/2 4/5 4/4 3/3 3/3 16/17 turn on Koa for unlettered Lei R 53 1/2 4/5 4/4 2/3 2/3 13/17 Story: turn on Golden (Oak Dr) P 53 0/2 2/5 1/4 1/3 2/3 6/17 Story: turn on Golden (Oak Ct) CP 10 1/2 5/5 3/4 3/3 3/3 15/17 cross out choices on score sheet CP 11 0/2 1/5 2/4 1/3 2/3 6/17 write 2007 as date on score sheet * A big THANK YOU to everyone who made this rallye possible: Don Bess, Clayton Castle, Glen Dayton, Abby Grossman, Nancy Hanna, Bill Jonesi, Michelle McGrew, Dean Stanton, Eric Sultan, Steve Watt who prechecked Glen Dayton and Abby Grossman who worked the checkpoints Nancy Hanna and Steve Watt, who printed the rallye materials Nick and Teresa Stefanisko, our illustrious awards committee, who also worked registration All of you!
