Jan 15, 2003 TRC General Meeting minutes (Approved with amendment on 21 Feb) - Called to order at 1947. Members present: - Bill Jonesi, Teresa Stefanisko, Nick Stefanisko, Michelle McGrew, Darin McGrew, Nancy Hanna, Steve Watt, Abby Grossman, Jeff Trimble, Pete Soper Minutes from last meeting: - Approved Officer's reports: President: - Described a new kind of rallye, the "Krispy Kreme" rallye, timing by KK receipts. Went to the North Pacific SCCA convention. Vice President: - No report. Secretary: - No report. Treasurer: - Not present at meeting, provided report via email, available via cell - TRC active again according to the CA Secretary of State, with all fees paid, will work on name correction after things stabilize - New signature card has been submitted to the bank - No Treasurer materials have been received from Willie, despite Jeff and Bill's repeated attempts, and it seemed close. Willie has promised to deliver by the meeting date. Cris prefers to wait for materials, as closing and opening a new account would cost $. Most likely will have an account up by the Feb meeting, and hopefully by the Feb rallye. - Steve has about $450 in cash and checks from the last few rallye starts to deposit once the account is secured. The club has about $900 in non-submitted expenses, primarily due to Steve for mailings, and to Cris for insurance and state fees. This will be straightened out by the next rallye. - The KCBS interview has been posted to the web site. Thanks to Bill, Dave and Nick for getting it up there. - Cris had a discussion with a '70s rallyist (Debi Ferrani) whos is interested in doing a large rallye in the North Bay, possibly a charity event. More discussion to follow at the Feb 2 rallye, which she'll be attending. - Cris sent an email to Mike Sugerman to possibly cover rallyes as a feature for TV. Rebecca Corral suggested the contact, as he expressed an interest. - Brad Shifflett (pro photographer) may show up on 2/1 to take pictures of our rallye, with intent of producing images to sell. He initiated the contact, and Cris tried to ensure that he understood the nature of gimmick rallyes and their not-especially-photogenic nature. T&D and national guys may want to contact him (info@photojockeys.com) as those seem like more photographable events. - Seems to be momentum building around rallyes - Has printed a variety of colors of windshield labels for the board to have a look at. Insurance chair: - No official word on whether a multi-rallye event is covered by insurance, though Bill is confident this is true. If so, this leaves room for Jeff and Neil Bliss to do a single-day, multi-rallye event. - No activity on lower rates. Claudia is hard to get a hold of. Perhaps we should start discussing alternatives, including whether NCSCC provides any value to TRC. There are other organizations that we may consider aligning with as an alternative to NCSCC. NCSCC Representative: - Bill can be NCSCC rep if he is not the chair this year. Next meeting is in Santa Rose on 4/6. Last Event(s) Report: - Toy Rallye report given at Dec meeting Next Event(s) Report: - February = Rallye Bowl, Cris Wendt's, Flyers in Jan mailing, Super Bowl theme. Rallye was prechecked almost 2 weeks ago, changes need to be put in. Nick to do par plaques. Since it's membership rallye, can Steve print TRC membership cards to simplify member updates? Cris will bring windshield labels. - March 1 = Rallye School - Winter '03, rallye underway, Cris to precheck, still need to figure out CP staffing. - April 5 = SNAFU, Stefaniskos, Flyer in Jan mailing. Cris will mentor and precheck. - April 12-13 = Earthquake/Aftershock, Flyers in Jan mailing. Hotel and meeting rooms committed -- the Holiday Inn in Dublin, Oregon sanctioning. SFR would like a link to Flyers. Run off 20-30 extra Flyer sets. Will pay fair % of mailing costs. ~$200 entry fee. PCA and/or I-club may want some of the rallye sponsorship. TRC can't risk the $ right now. Breakeven is 17-18 cars, precheck maybe the 25th. - May 3 = MAYDAY, Darin, Flyer in Jan mailing. Got the concepts in place, working on route. Maybe finish @ Jake's Willow Glen? - May ?? = May Flowers (or maybe wild goose chase?), rallye is ready. 17 May maybe? Start in Atherton? - Neil would be willing to do the other event in a Rallye Day to be paired with May Flowers / Goose Chase. - 7 June = Don & Rochelle Bess have committed - Nov = Darin - Jan '04 = Abby Open Dates: - 7/5 - no rallye - 8/2, 9/6, 10/4 -- See if we can draft John M. for one... Old Business: - The membership list will just be restarted. - Incorporation status cleared with Treasurer report - Backup gimmick (A/B) rallye still being worked on, should be done Real Soon Now. Cris will precheck. Jeff will dredge up some old rallyes. - Northwest region to put on Reno Rallye on 5,6 Apr. There's a Yahoo! groups list: renorally@yahoogrous.com. Reno Fernley Raceway has lots o' dirt roads wanting a rallye, and can help support. Reno SCCA can't support a 2 day event. Maybe run some stuff at Stead. SF region to sanction, ~$350-$400 for both events, won't make general announcements until paperwork in place. 1 Feb is go/no-go date. The first weekend in November is also clear, schedule-wise, if Apr is a no-go. - The Earthquake/Aftershock SCCA nationals are on the calendar, 4/19-20. Bill to RM. SCCA will cover expenses. - Transition from old board to new: None of the incoming officers have heard from the old treasurer at all, despite repeated attempts in various media. Jeff attempted several visits, no luck. New Business: - Pete gave an extensive report on the Reno SCCA convention. Much of the update from the Reno Rallye (see old business) came during this report. - SF region really wants to see a road rallye program/series. - Cris offered to make windshield labels, wanted board to pick color: The choice is to bring an assortment. - The Miata club is interested in putting something together Upcoming Events: - 2/1 Rallye Bowl XXXVII - 2/15 Inaugural in LA - 2/15 SF Treasure Hunt - BMW club at end of Feb - 3/1 Rallye School: Winter '03 Announcements: None. Next Meeting: Wednesday, 19 February, 1930, at Round Table Pizza, 860 Old San Francisco Rd.
